Mu-Metal foil is primarily composed of about **77-80% nickel**, **15-20% iron**, with small amounts of copper (~4–6%) and molybdenum (~2–4%) added to improve its magnetic softness and permeability. It contains very low carbon and trace impurities to maintain its magnetic performance. Mechanically, the foil boasts high tensile strength (~500-700 MPa), good yield strength (~250-350 MPa), and elongation values between 30-40%, making it both strong and ductile enough to be shaped into thin shielding foils. After annealing, its permeability can reach impressive levels, with low coercivity and minimal hysteresis losses.
